Affordable Rental Housing Program

Strategy

In order to provide affordable housing for low-income individuals and families who are not ready for homeownership, our organization will secure single family houses and housing facilities (purchased or secured through donations), ensure that each unit is safe and of high quality (through rehabilitation if necessary), lease each unit to individuals and families in need of permanent affordable housing. Section 8 and vouchers will be used to subsidize the rental payments.

As a part of this program strategy we will provide financial and other training classes necessary for self-sufficiency and stability of each household. Participants need to understand where they are, where they want to go and then they have to be disciplined about sticking to it. Minorities and other underserved groups, who are often overlooked by the financial services mainstream, require clear and relevant information to help them achieve stability. In addition to job skills training and skill building special classes include topics in saving and investing.
